And now folks, it's time for some grade-Z biker movie music! This little item here is the theme song for a 1967 Crown International film starring Ross Hagen (termed the low-budget Steve McQueen from several posters on the Internet Movie Database) that was roasted in an episode of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 episode from the second season. I remember that episode not being one of their better ones, but that was because the movie so so outright bad nothing could have helped it.
But you know how some bad songs have a way of sticking in your head like nasty canker sores, don't you? Well, that's what happened with this one. It's so infectiously cheesy that you can't help loving it. In fact, the word "cheesy" can be used to describe everything here from the farfisa organ that dominates the song right down to this immortal chorus:
Hell cats, parading down the street,
Hell cats, shocking everyone they meet,
They paint the town upside down,
Don't mess around,
with Hell Cats!
(Insert 4 note organ riff here)
Hell Cats!
(repeat organ riff)
One has to wonder what Tower must have been thinking when they decided to release this. But then again, Tower (and its subsidiaries) put out lots of soundtracks to American International movies, so I guess they had deals with other studios, too (which explains them putting out the soundtrack for something like "Mondo Mod.")
And who were Davey Jones and the Dolphins? My answer: Who cares?
