It's Great Shakes Radio #3 - Hip Shakin' Mama

Hello, I thought it'd be a good time to put together my first podcast in a few months. This time, the show consists of records on my favorite finds list of 2007. There are 18 tunes in all, with r&b, soul, garage and a few things in-between tossed into the mix. All are first timers on the blog.

Here is the playlist:

Don Covay & the Goodtimers - 40 Days-40 Nights
Harvey Russell & the Rogues - Shake Sherry
The Surfaris - Shake
The Beeds - You Don't Have To
Bee Bee Butler - Sweet Sweet Life
Spanky Wilson - You
Dave "Baby" Cortez - Happy Feet
Eric Burdon & the Animals - Ain't That So
The Ron-Dels - Lose Your Money
The Bougalieu - Let's Do Wrong
The Cindermen - Don't Do It Some More
Us Too - I'll Leave You Crying
Leo O'Neil - I'm A Tom Cat

Great Episode! My favorite right now is that Jerry Williams track. Great shaker with the same rhythm as the equally great Mojo Workout by Bobby Long (found on talkin trash! Lookey Dookey)

Thanks! and keep 'em coming

Todd,

You may recall that I wrote a little blurb about the Dave "Baby" Cortez record in my post called "A Few Fuzz Crunchers...." a few months ago. So, this wouldn't be the first time "Happy Feet's" been mentioned on this blog. Just wanted to remind you.

Brian, you're right. Glad to be able to include it in the podcast. It's great!

It is indeed. In fact, both sides of that record are great. This is one Dave "Baby" Cortez record you absolutely can't go wrong with.

By the way, jk might already know this but Jerry Williams went on to become Swamp Dogg.

I looked him up. Thanks anyway.

By the way, the download for episode 1 is not working. Will you upload it again?

jk, I've reloaded episode 1 for you. To make the radio podcasts easier to find, I've also posted links to them in the margin at the right.
