Joe Bennett and The Sparkletones: Gotton Pickin' Rocker/I Dig You Baby (ABC-Paramount)

This is one of my most recent finds that I scored at the Indy Record Show and I think it's a two-sided rockabilly monster! It was the third single for this group of teenagers who recorded this after scoring big with "Black Slacks" and less so with "Penny Loafers and Bobby Sox." It's kind of a shame that this didn't take off because it's as high quality as their previous two records. That only means that both sides are KILLER! The group would record several more records for ABC-Paramount, then a few on the Paris label. They disbanded in the early 60s. If you haven't heard this record, then do yourself a favor and click on! You're in for a treat on both sides.

"Cotton Picking Rocker" is easily my favorite of the three 'big' Sparkletone 45s. Sadly, also their hardest to find 'wild' out this way.
