The World of Milan: One Track Mind (Brunswick 55298))

You garage freaks probably know Milan better as The Leather Boy.
Under that name, he recorded a single for Parkway called "Jersey Thursday" and two ultra-cool singles for MGM ("I'm A Leather Boy" and the two-headed monster "On The Go" b/w "Soulin'").

He recorded as Milan (The Leather Boy) for a Flower single "You Gotta Have Soul" (also a monster, btw). Finally, he also recorded as The World of Milan for both ABC Paramount (the teen rocker "Luva Luva") and for Brunswick. This is one of two he made for Brunswick, and what a rockin' surprise it turns out to be.

Milan hits it off by yelling "Ready! Set! Go!," followed by a pounding drumbeat that charges at you with the force of a buffalo stampede! Then, twangy guitar and crazy organ come in with a one-two punch, as Milan sings:

One track mind,
My baby's got a one track mind
My baby's got a one track mind
She'll never stop until she finds
L-O-V-E, LOVE!
L-O-V-E, LOVE!
OH YEAH!
OH YEAH!

Milan's got this jet going at warp speed and there's no stopping! There's some horns toward the very end, but the racket of the guitar, organ and primitive drums is so loud, you can barely notice them and it adds to the chaos that's already preceded.

And then, after 1:50 minutes, it stops abruptly as if the engineer couldn't take any more and cut the tape machine off. But oh, what a swell ride that leaves you completely breathless! Why we live in a world that ignores crazy records like this while allowing Oliver and Bobby Goldsboro to have major hits is one of life's biggest tragedies. Then again, that's just more coolness for us to enjoy.
