The Pips - "Ain't 'Cha Got Some Room"

I went to the St. Louis record show this past Sunday and have spent the week sorting through and listening to my take. And today, here's my favorite find, so far, from the show, "Ain't 'Cha Got Some Room (In Your Great Big Heart For Me)" by The Pips. When I found this, I had no idea if these Pips were related to the Gladys Knight bunch. As it turns out, this is Gladys and friends from 1961.

I've always been a fan of her singing voice but "Ain't 'Cha Got Some Room" is Gladys Knight at her absolute rawest. An upbeat rocker, the song starts with guitar, bashing cymbals, drums and takes off with Gladys at a shout. The Pips try and keep up in the background. There's no time for a breath, with the tune wrapped up in just 1:44. Seriously, throw a guitar break in there and you have perfection. Close enough anyway. This one scores big points around here. And it looks like there are multiple copies on eBay for a song (har har).

You have incredible taste! How can we collectively persuade you to post mp3's? These songs, without exception, look mah-vel-oous...

Nice to see you guys back up and running as I always enjoys seeing what oddballs you dig up. Muchly improved look as well.

Thanks westex, glad you like the new look. I've already been lax again in posting. I'll try and get something new up, tomorrow.

By the way, found an Eddie Noack 45 on D, last week.
