Dr. Feelgood & the Interns

Hey, a Friday post! I thought that I'd get something up quickly for the weekend. I mentioned a couple of posts back that I'd found a few interesting albums, recently. That, in and of itself, is fairly rare. Here's one of those albums, by Dr. Feelgood & the Interns. I picked up this gem at Goodwill for just 50 cents. It's in pretty nice shape as these things go.

Dr. Feelgood had formerly recorded as Piano Red in the 1950's and began releasing 45's on OKeh with the Interns in the early 1960's. When I found the album, I noted a few of their early singles were here, including "Doctor Feel-Good", "Bald-Headed Lena" and "What's Up Doc". I was curious to hear what else was on the album. I wasn't disappointed, with several of their other tunes being top-notch.

Today, I'm posting four songs from the album that I don't think were ever released on 45. If anyone knows differently, please fill me in. Up to now, I've never posted album only tracks on the blog. All four are upbeat rockers. I hope you enjoy.

I listened to The Doctor on AM radio, KBOX 1480, in Dallas when I was a kid 49 years ago. I would very much like to get a mp3 of The Doctor from you!

Piano Red (and band) was a "name" entertainer playing fraternity parties from time to time in the 50's and 60's. I saw them at the University of Alabama about the time Dr. Feelgood broke... then saw a solitary Piano Red playing in Underground Atlanta early 1980's. The album looks like quite a find.

I just came across a 45 that says it is not for resale - Radio Station Copy by Dr. Feelgood and The Interns. It has the songs "Don't tell me no dirty" and "Where did you go" on it. This record is in perfect condition. If anyone can tell me anything about it, let me know.
